Important Note
on Downloading Audio Files from This Web
Site
Some audio
examples on this web site are stored in IMA ADPCM
sample format in a WAVE (MS-RIFF .wav) file. IMA
ADPCM is a 4:1 compression standard that uses
Adaptive PCM which was suggested by the
International Multimedia Association (IMA) for
storing and transferring sound data. They will be
reproduced in 16bit,
44100Hz
sample quality.
When you click on
a link to such a file, your browser will download
the corresponding audio file and convert it to a
format that should automatically play on your
computer after the download has finished. However,
due to the large amount of different
configurations, some computer may not reproduce the
examples properly. If this is the case, try to get
a copy of a shareware sound player that suppports
IMA ADPCM compression or drop the files on the
player application manually.
If you are using
a PC, the files should play properly without any
extra work, since the .wav file format is the
native sound format on these machines.
If you are using
a Macintosh and the file won't play, grabbing a
copy of Audacity
is a good idea to cure the problem. Audacity
supports the IMA ADPCM compression standard and
should play the sound files without
problems.
